Imagine this: you pay for advertising, expecting a flood of new customers. But instead, your budget gets drained by dishonest affiliates and competitors using your branded keywords in their ads. Frustrating, right?
This happens more often than you think. But what if there was a way to automatically scan thousands of ads for violations, saving you time, money, and frustration?
We'll share a closer look at how the Bluepear service analyzes search results, conducts competitor analysis and brand monitoring, finds affiliate violations, and helps fight dishonest affiliates and webmasters in search.
Bluepear is an automated SERP checker and brand monitoring tool that searches for CPA partner and competitor violations in paid search advertising and organic search results. It also does a competitor analysis by any keywords and geos.
We've already talked much about why it's important to monitor your brand in the search results. Today, we'll share how Bluepear checks search results, finds violators, and helps brands fight them.
So, where does this search engine marketing analysis start...
Stage 1 – Mimicking user actions
At the core of the Bluepear SERP checker is an advanced parser (a programme for automated collection and structuring of information from websites) that types in the specified keywords in search. By conducting a thorough SERP analysis, the service mimics user actions from different geos, using proxies from various countries. This brand monitoring scheme allows the program to check search results and get detailed insights with both paid and organic websites.
Stage 2 – SERP analysis and ads scanning
The SERP checker selects those ads that contain the tracked UTM tags. Usually, these are the affiliates’ IDs. Because most affiliate programs prohibit PPC on specific (usually branded) keywords. Using them is a violation. Why? Read this article to find out.
Stage 3 – Collecting evidence of violations
Violations have been found. Now, you need to notify the affiliates to remove brand bidding or dispute payments for poor quality traffic. For this, you'll need evidence: a screenshot of the ad and the UTM tags of the dishonest affiliate.
Bluepear automatically:
• Takes a screenshot of the search results where the ad was spotted.
• Checks the landing page and takes a screenshot of the landing.
• Saves the affiliate link to find the affiliate ID.
• Saves the entire redirect chain up to the final link with the affiliate ID where the user performs target actions.
This package of evidence is recorded in the user's personal account.
Often, the affiliate ID is embedded not in the ad link, but in the button on the landing page (usually this is a showcase site or an intermediary site with a lead form). This type of violation is called branded PPC campaigns. In this case, the SERP checker makes an additional pass to such sites, clicks on the button, and saves the link with the affiliate's ID.
Stage 4 – Full report on violations
After conducting competitor analysis and collecting all the evidence, Bluepear automatically generates a report. It will record the domains that were positioned on your keywords, the number of ads and detected webmasters, as well as the date of detection.
You receive a PDF report in your personal account. You can immediately send it to the network or directly to the webmaster.
Stage 5 – Notification of detected violations
After that, you'll receive an instant notification of the violation with the evidence. Notifications come by email or any convenient messenger. You can quickly make a decision and stop the partner's traffic that is being driven on your branded keywords.
Stage 6 – Dealing with partners
So, we've found the violators and documented competitor analysis and all the evidence. Now it's time to deal with the dishonest partners. Usually, the brand team contacts the partner network (less often the affiliate directly) and asks them to stop the prohibited traffic or completely ban the partner.
Here’s an example of Bluepear's work on the Wargaming brand monitoring:
1. Mimicking user actions
Our service typed in 146 branded queries to extensively check search results from different geos, browsers, and devices. The program used the obtained results to search for violations.
2. SERP analysis and ads scanning
Bluepear found 29,078 ads on the specified keywords. Of these, 2,712 ads were unique. Advertising was placed on 481 domains.
3. Collecting evidence of violations
Over 30 days, our SERP checker detected 24 affiliates who were violating the affiliate policy and draining the brand's advertising budget.
The Wargaming team received a full report with competitor analysis and evidence and was able to challenge payments for poor quality traffic.
Final words
Don't let dishonest affiliates and competitors steal your hard-earned advertising budget any longer! Bluepear is an advanced solution for brands looking to take back control of their online presence.
